With our adjustable mount there are 18 clicks to adjust for yardage. But what does that mean? How far can I really shoot my bow?
Answer:
Well… it depends.
It depends on 2 factors: weight of your arrow and draw weight of your bow.
Let’s look at an Average Hunting Set Up:
Example:
Hoyt VTM
70 lbs draw and 500 grain arrow
Clicks |
Distance (yards) |
0 |
20 (This varies, if you want to sight it in at 15, 25 you can) |

14 | 75 |
16 | 80 |
18 | 85 |
In this example the mount would have you sighted in to shoot between 20-60 yards. If you have a lighter draw and/or heavier arrow, you may not get out as far. Or if you have a heavier draw and/or lighter arrow you will be able to shoot farther. Those are factors to consider for a hunting set up.
For a Total Archery Challenge (TAC) or 3D course set up:
Example:
Mathews V3
70 lbs draw and 380 grain arrow

This is Matthew Zelenka’s TAC set up, he did not need to shoot past 40 yards for the courses he signed up for, so he sighted it in at 40 yards and was able to get out to 100 yards. If you shoot less weight and/or shoot a heavier arrow you won’t get out as far. On the flip side, if you shoot a heavier draw bow and/or a lighter arrow you will be able to shoot farther.
I hope this is helpful for curiosities about how far out you can shoot with the Adjustable Red Dot bow mount. Any other questions give us a message!
